New Arrival, Hidden Danger

Wishfeather shivered as a cool breeze swept into the medicine cat's den. It had been her fifth night staying in Shiningsong's den, and she doubted it wouldn't be her last.
She could hear the fluffy she-cat rummaging around the back of her den, sorting herbs the queen guessed, and lifted her head to see if she could be of some assistance.
Unfortunately, the tortoiseshell had grown weaker as the days went by. She wondered if she even had much days left. She opened her mouth to ask the medicine cat, but quickly snapped it shut as she heard a rustle come from the entrance of the den.
"Go away, Vanstar." Shiningsong's meow sounded from the back of the den. Wishfeather couldn't help but be faintly amused.
Vanstar padded into the den, shifting from paw-to-paw uncomfortably. "I know you said I couldn't come to see her anymore," the tom meowed. "But I have to. She's my mate and the mother of my sons."
Shiningsong, clearly annoyed that her leader wasn't listening to her. "Vanstar, we can't have you getting sick either. You're on your last life. Now out," she demanded; shooing him away.
With a sigh, the ginger tom reluctantly padded back into the clear, only to see that a grey and white she-cat was sitting in the clearing. Redclaw and Smokepelt sat on either side of her.

"Vanstar!" Smokepelt meowed and stood up as he addressed his leader.
"Who is this?" Vanstar asked as his gaze fell upon the she-cat.
"Wolffur," Redclaw meowed. "Smokepelt found her lingering around the Clan border."
"Oh, really? We're not looking for anymore new comers," Vanstar meowed coldly as he turned around. After his mate fell ill, he had very little patience.
"But Vanstar!" Smokepelt protested. "You can't just ignore cats that want to join StellarClan."
"But I can," the tom snapped. "This she-cat has shown me nothing that she is worthy enough to be apart of StellarClan."
"Vanstar, that is enough. That is not how you planned to run your Clan!"
The ginger tom whipped around to see Wishfeather leaning against Shiningsong.
"What're you doing out of the medicine cat's den?" He asked; his gaze softening.
Although her mate's eyes were full of affection, Wishfeather's own eyes were sad. "I heard you sending this cat away. You told me every sunrise that you'd never turn down an offer on the Clan. Vanstar, I hope this isn't because I'm sick."
"N-No," Vanstar meowed, but it was more than obvious that the large tom was lying.
Wishfeather let out a sigh. She gestured for him to follow her as Shiningsong helped her back into the medicine cat's den.

*~*

"They sure are taking a long time," Redclaw commented as he sat with Wolffur and Hawkeye beside the freshkill pile.
"Give him some time," Hawkeye meowed as she cleaned his pelt. "Vanstar knows what he's doing, as does Wishfeather. I doubt it's easy on him knowing that Wishfeather won't get any better."
"What is wrong with her?" Wolffur asked.
"We don't know," Redclaw answered. "She became ill and it seems like it's going to be the reason she joins StarClan."
"Certainly there's something you can do!" Wolffur insisted; her sightless eyes widened.
"Shiningsong has done all she can. It's not a sickness that we understand. We just have to hope more cats don't fall ill before we know a cure. No, if we find a cure," the brown tabby meowed as she let out a sigh.
She was saved from answering anymore questions as Vanstar padded out of the den, followed by Shiningsong.
"Cats of StellarClan," he began as he leaped onto the Highstone. "Yes, we have been in a few rough situations this past few days, but it's not the end. We welcome new warriors and other cats into our Clan and it shows how strong StellarClan is becoming. Today, we welome Wolffur into our Clan. Welcome, Wolfftorm, to StellarClan."
The leader jumped from the Highstone to properly greet the newest warrior he had been so rude to earlier. However much he tried to seem hopeful, he couldn't help feeling fearful for the she-cat in the medicine cat's den.

[Yes, so Wishfeather will join StarClan soon. I'm so disappointed in myself for killing off one of my favourite cats! D: Ah, well, I play too many as of right now. Alas, Vanstar will be joining her soon enough. If you want your cats to fall ill, just let me know. I do believe StellarClan will find a cure before other cats (excluding Vanstar and Wishfeather) join StarClan.
I do hope StellarClan becomes active once more. I'd be heartbroken to see my pride and joy fall into the deadly clutches of inactive blogs. Anyways, StellarClan has a new ally. Say hello to OakClan! Hello, OakClan! :D]

  1. (I think Ashpaw's going to get sick :P)

Ivyflight padded up to Vanstar and gave him a small, comforting smile. Don't be afraid to let go, she mouthed, a little sadly.

Ghostpaw padded up to Wolffur. "Great to meet you," he said with a smile.

Ashpaw shot a glance at the newcomer and then began to groom her pelt.

  2. Vanstar looked at the ginger she-cat and nodded. "I know," he meowed.

Soulkit and Steelkit sat at the entrance of the nursery, both looked greatly upset.
"Is mom going to leave us?" Soulkit whimpered.
"Don't talk like that!" Steelkit snapped. "Mom will get better! She will!"

Riverpaw went to the freshkill pile. Seeing that it wasn't stocked to high she looked around. "I'm going to hunt, would anyone like to join me?"

  3. (Mousefur can get sick, but I don't want her to die.)

Mousefur lay down and looked at Vanstar's kits outside the nursery. She wondered if there was any way to comfort them, but she quickly turned her head towards Wolffur. Their father would talk to them.

  4. (Maybe Ghostpaw and Ivyflight can die on Riverpaw's patrol? Foxes or something? And Pebblesplash and Sleetpelt come in and try to help, but it's too late?)

Ghostpaw stretched and padded up to Riverpaw. "Sure," he said.

Ivyflight pricked her ears and trotted over to Riverpaw. Great idea, she mouthed at the apprentice.

Ashpaw blinked. She'd been feeling a bit off-color lately. It's probably nothing. It'll be gone soon, she thought, but a deep part of Ashpaw wasn't so sure.

  5. [Alright! I have an idea for all the clanmates! Mwahahahaha!]

Riverpaw grinned. "Great! Let's go!" She than blushed -if cat's can blush- and stepped back. "Oh, er, you lead Ivyflight."

"Mousefur," Vanstar called on the she-cat. "Do you mind bringing freshkill to Shiningsong and Wishfeather?"

  6. Mousefur stood up. "No problem." She told Vanstar. Making her way over to the fresh-kill pile, she picked up a vole and a squirrel and headed to the medicine cat den. "Shiningsong?" She called past the fresh-kill.

  7. Ivyflight nodded, though there was a glimmer of mischief in her eyes. Follow me...if you can, she said, grinning, and took off into the forest.
    ~Ivyflight

Ghostpaw glanced at Riverpaw. The pretty she-cat made him feel...well, Ghostpaw didn't know what it was. He usually got tongue-tied around her and often couldn't think straight. Ghostpaw looked into the forest and then flicked his tail. "Let's go," he said, his paws flying over the earth, Riverpaw close behind.

  8. [I haven't heard from TheBlondeSmiley since the last post, so I don't know if she's active or not.]

"I think she went to gather more herbs," Wishfeather meowed as she sat up in her nest. "Why are you in here? Don't you know you could get sick?"

"Wait for me!" Riverpaw meowed as she struggled to keep up. Although she was used to it, Steelkit and Soulkit had often left her behind, she still found it irritating to try and keep up. She dug her claws into the earth to propel herself forward.

  9. (Poots..)

Mousefur nodded but stepped inside. "Vanstar asked me to fetch you two fresh-kill." She dropped the squirrel in front of Wishfeather and the vole a little ways off. "Don't worry. Shingingsong will find a cure." She reassured the queen, although she knew she might be lying.

  10. Ivyflight skidded to a stop, her eyes wide. Foxes! she thought in a panic. There were four of them, snapping and snarling as they advanced. She jabbed Riverpaw on the shoulder with her tail. Go to camp and get help! she mouthed.
    ~Ivyflight

Ghostpaw bristled, his eyes wide. Starclan help us, he thought.

  11. Wishfeather frowned. "Vanstar. That mouse-brain," she muttered. "He'll get everyone in the clan sick. Thank you anyways, Mousefur. You should leave, I don't want you getting sick." She shot the she-cat a smile before attempting to gather what energy she had to eat the squirrel.

"B-but I can't just leave you two!" Riverpaw yowled, but she listened to the older she-cat. She whipped around, and gathering all of her strength, she hurried to camp.

  12. Ivyflight bared her teeth, leaping at a fox. The fox, however, was ready, and swiped, connecting with her head. Ivyflight's mouth opened in a silent yelp as she crashed into the ground, but before she could regain her footing, the fox was upon her, its jaws around her neck. Ivyflight caught a fleeting glimpse of Ghostpaw's horrified face before blackness encroached on her vision and she heard the music of Starclan.
    ~Ivyflight

"IVYFLIGHT!" Ghostpaw screeched, as he saw the light fade from his sister's eyes. His heart was thumping painfully fast, and it took Ghostpaw a moment to realize that those were tears blurring his vision. Ghostpaw growled and sprinted at the foxes, wanting to hurt them, but there were too many. Ghostpaw was swallowed amid red pelts and snarling jaws.
    ~Ghostpaw

Pebble sprinted forward. She had heard yowling. Beside her, Sleet sprinted. Together, the twosome flew into the fray. In a whirlwind of teeth and claws, the two managed to chase two of the foxes away. The remaining two gave Pebble and Sleet dark looks and melted into the shadows. Panting, Pebble surveyed the scene. There was one dead cat and another one that was barely alive, his eyes unfocued. Pebble padded up to him. "Who...are you?" the young tom murmured. "I'm Pebble, and that's Sleet," Pebble said, and she frowned in compassion for the dying cat at her feet. "I'm sorry we couldn't get here sooner." "That's fine," said the black cat, and he closed his eyes, his breathing raspy.

  13. Riverpaw had successfully reached the camp without any problems and had immediately ran to the nearest cat; Greedclaw. The black tom assembled a patrol of Smokepelt, Redclaw, Hawkeye, Mousefur, and himself.
Once they reached the scene of the battle, Greedclaw was more than surprised to see his fallen clanmate, Ghostpaw, and two strangers.
Instantly, his hackles rose. "What are you doing here?" He snarled.

Redclaw crouched, ready for Greedclaw's signal to attack the two cats. Had they helped the foxes kill Ivyflight?
He jumped when he was nudged roughly by Hawkeye. Being the more sensible of the pair, she shook her head. Greedclaw would deal with them.

  14. Mousefur's fur puffed out in shock, her scent clouded by the scent of blood, death, and the two strangers. "Great Starclan!" she whispered hoarsely. Looking around, she noticed Ivyflight in the far corner of the clearing. Grief clawed her heart for her fallen Clanmate, but she hadn't know her personally. Only in passing had she exchanged a word with her or her brother. "Greedclaw, we need to get Ghostpaw and Ivyflight back to camp and prepare Ivyflight for tonight."

    ReplyDelete
  15. "Right, of course," Greedclaw meowed. "Redclaw, I want you to assist Mousefur in bringing their bodies back."

The rusty-colored tom nodded before looking at Mousefur. "Are you able to handle Ghostpaw on your own?" Before she replied, he grabbed Ivyflight by the scruff and attempted to pulled her back to camp.

"As for you two," Greedclaw continued. "Tell us why you are here."

  16. Mousefur picked up Ghostpaw and followed after Redaw, nosing Ivyflight onto his back.

Silver and Black headed towards the small clearing where the noise seemed to be coming from. Silver was ready for a battle, but Black knew something was wrong. Past the bushes ahead they could see a group of cats, one seemed to be angry. The sisters could smell blood in front of the new cats, and before Silver could announce their presence, Black nudged her down to the ground. "Wait." Black hissed.

  17. "Sun, don't you think we've traveled far enough today? We could rest here?" A tiny she-cat mewed, her belly swollen with kits.

"Are you mad?" The pale ginger tabby tom growled. "I smell fox nearby, and a lot of blood." He shook his head. "Why did we go this way again?" He muttered, half to himself.

"Well, we scented cats nearby, remember? And since our kits are due any moment, we thought they could help..." Her voice trailed off, and she began to get worried. What if my kits don't have anywhere to stay? Her mates gruff mew broke her train of thought.

"I'm going to check out where that fox scent is coming from, but you stay here, in the bushes. Yowl if you're in trouble, okay?" Before Willow could argue, he set a brisk pace farther into the forest.

  18. Ghostpaw blinked open one gray eye. It was hazy with pain and far away. "They...they didn't kill my sister," Ghostpaw murmured. "They tried their best to help..." Ghostpaw trailed off, his eyes becoming glassy. He exhaled, and Ghostpaw became limp in Mousefur's jaws, never to move again.
    ~Ghostpaw

Sleet padded forward, towards Greedclaw. "We heard the sounds of fighting and came to help," he said expressionlessly. "Ivywhatsit was already dead when we arrived." Though his tone was flat, Sleet's eyes were alive with sorrow and anger that two cats had to die this way.
    ~Sleet

Pebble nodded, surveying the Clan cats. "Besides, we've heard tell of the Clans and thought that they'd be a good option for us. We've traveled a long way to get here, so don't go jumping to conclusions."
    ~Pebble

  19. Mousefur closed her eyes in sorrow, knowing she would never forget that Ghostpaw died in her paws.

( I would say jaws but it sounded like she was eating him..)

Black cast an accusing glare at Silver, knowing she had wanted to fight. "What? All I heard was the sound of a fox battle!" Silver hissed somewhat loudly. "Mouse-brain!" Black slapped her tail over Silver's mouth. "Why not announce us to the whole forest?!"

  20. Sun padded cautiously through the unknown forest, almost flinching at every bird call. I hope Willow is doing okay. If those foxes catch her, I'll never forgive myself. Trying to focus on more positive things, he set out to find the strange cats.
