"Vanstar," the large ginger tom perked up his head when he heard the familiar voice of his mate.
"Wishfeather," he began. "I told you many times, you don't have to ask to enter our den." He heard the brush of her pelt against the overhanging ferns and soon the fluffy tortoiseshell was standing before him, her olive green eyes full of affection.
"My den is in the nursery with our sons," she let out a purr.
The tom stood up, shaking the twigs and dust out of his pelt. "Steelkit should be apprenticed soon," he meowed.
Wishfeather let out an amused purr-like laugh. "You know very well that he takes after his father. Steelkit had said himself that he will not be apprenticed without his younger brother."
"He's nine moon's old for StarClan's sake!" Vanstar protested.
"And Soulkit's only three," she reminded her mate. "He's also very small for his age, smaller than Soulkit. It won't make a difference if they are apprenticed at the same time."
"Be careful that Steelkit doesn't hear you say that," Vanstar purred with amusement. He knew how much his son hated being called small. Despite his size, Steelkit had a temper that would out five angry badgers.
Vanstar opened his mouth to add something else, but Greedclaw burst into his den, looking furious.
"Vanstar!" The black tom meowed. "Three cats have entered our territory. Hawkeye and Redclaw found them and brought them back to camp. They're waiting to speak to you."
Vanstar let out an annoyed grunt before making his way out of his den, Wishfeather following close behind. The sunlight shown through the tree canopy like a spotlight, and he had to blink to adjust his eyesight.
As soon as he did, he spotted three cats, just as Greedclaw said, sitting in the middle of the clearing.
Vanstar approached the cats carefully. "What brings you to StellarClan?" He meowed, his eyes drilling into theirs. He turned his intense gaze on, what he seemed was, the oldest she-cat.
The she-cat looked at him blankly. How was she supposed to explain it to the tom?
Instead of the skinny ginger she-cat answering, the black tom did. "We want to join your Clan."
"Welcome to StellarClan," Wishfeather meowed with a warm smile. "I'm Wishfeather."
Vanstar smiled as he stood beside his mate. "Yes, welcome to StellarClan. I'm the leader, Vanstar."
"I'm Ghost and this is Ivy and Ash!" The lean black tom meowed.
As the three began to be welcomed by the rest of the Clan, Vanstar leaped onto the Highstone and looked down at his Clan.
"StellarClan!" The ginger tom yowled, his voice echoing throughout the clearing. Steelkit and Soulkit, who had been inlocked in a play fight, broke apart and sat beside their mother. "Tonight, we welcome Ivy, Ghost, and Ash as members of StellarClan. Ivy, you will be now known as Ivyflight," he meowed. The she-cat nodded to him from where she stood. He had figured out that she was a mute from the two younger cats.
"From now until you recieve your warrior names, Ash you will be known as Ashpaw and Ghost, you will be known as Ghostpaw. Smokepelt, Redclaw, please step forward."
The dark copper tom stepped forward, standing beside the dusky gray tabby. Smokepelt, you shall mentor Ghostpaw. Redclaw, you shall mentor Ashpaw. That is all, meeting dismissed!"
Vanstar leaped from the Highstone as the rest of the clan cheered for their new clanmates. He was about to congratulate the cats himself, but there was a crash from behind the warriors den, and suddenly, the clearing was a blur of red as a group of foxes, about five or six, came tearing into the middle of the camp.
Vanstar's immediate reaction was for his family, but Wishfeather was ushering a reluctant Steelkit and a terrified Soulkit into the nursery.
Ashpaw sighed and squeezed her eyes shut. We just ran into those stupid things! she wailed inwardly. I'm tired and sore and want a rest! She bared her teeth and launched herself at a fox, flame-colored eyes flashing.
ReplyDelete~Ashpaw
Ghostpaw joined Ashpaw in fighting a fox.
~Ghostpaw
Ivyflight positioned herself in front of the nursery, her tail lashing from side to side and a fierce expression on her face. Nothing gets by me if I can help it, she thought grimly.
~Ivyflight
Vanstar leaped at the nearest fox, his eyes full of rage. Rarely ever did the large tom get angry, but he was furious. How dare a pack of foxes attack a small Clan?
ReplyDeleteHe lashed out, his claws meeting successfully with flesh.
Wishfeather, after quieting Riverkit and her two sons, leaped out of the nursery to help Ivyflight protect her kits.
Two foxes advanced on the two she-cats outside of the nursery. Their eyes hungry for cats.
Redclaw and Hawkeye fought side-by-side. The two grew up together and they were parabatai; strong fighting partners.
Smokepelt made his way to the apprentice's side. "Do you need any help?" The young warrior asked. His eyes were lit with fire. He wasn't very wise, but he was a brave warrior.
(By the way, have you read the Mortal Instruments series?)
ReplyDeleteIvyflight glanced at Wishfeather, and then bared her teeth and fluffed herself up, trying to make her long, skinny body look bigger. She was reluctant to leave the nursery and possibly expose the kits inside.
~Ivyflight
Ashpaw and Ghostpaw successfully chased a fox away, sending it yipping with several deep gashes in its flanks.
~Ashpaw and Ghostpaw
(Yes~ They're great! I even have a RP blog for it, although I kinda started it before I left blogger and I have no joiners XD)
ReplyDeleteGreedclaw had managed to drive one of the foxes away, leave only four foxes left. He helped jumped to Smokepelt's side as the tom was pinned to the ground by one of the foxes.
Wishfeather nodded to Ivyflight; the she-cat would give up her own life if it meant that her kits would be safe.
Vanstar grappled with one of the foxes. (He will be losing one of his lives soon. He has 2 left.)
(I know! I love those books, though I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of City of Lost Souls. Yet XD)
ReplyDeleteAshpaw and Ghostpaw glanced at each other and smiled. Then the twosome tackled another fox.
~Ashpaw and Ghostpaw
Ivyflight gasped as a fox leaped onto her and pinned her. She struggled fiercely, but the fox was too strong. Its muzzle was coming closer, closer...
~Ivyflight
(Me neither! I want to read it sooooo bad! Dx)
ReplyDeleteGreedclaw had helped free Smokepelt and silver tabby was now back on his paws and battling the fox. His eyes full of hatred. The black tom took a quick look around the clearing. Right away, he spotted Ivyflight, but just as he was about to leap to his new clanmates side, the fox leader had managed to grab a hold of Vanstar and was now shaking the tom.
"Vanstar!" Greedclaw yowled, but instead of running to his leader, he ran to Ivyflight, shoving the fox off of her.
"Steelkit," Riverkit whimpered and moved closer to the young tom kit. She was crouched beside the two brothers, her eyes wide with terror. Never before had their camp been attack and it was frightening.
"It's okay, Riverkit." Soulkit's meow sounded beside her as he nosed her gently. "Everything will be alright."
"Vanstar!" Wishfeather's head whipped up as she batted the fox away. That was Greedclaw! She thought as her eyes searched for her mate. She spotted the ginger tom in the jaws of the fox. Fear made her concentration on fighting the fox disappear and she attempted to leap to her mate's side, but before she could, she felt sharp teeth snap at her sides. A searing pain shot through her body as she felt the blood drip down her sides. She wouldn't die now. Not when Vanstar was in trouble. Turning around, she lashed at the fox with such fury, it surprised herself.
(I know!! Honestly, I'm all for JacexClary, but stupid Jonathan keeps coming back and preventing a happy ending x.x)
ReplyDeleteIvyflight sent the fox yipping away with a ferocious claw swipe to its side. She turned her gaze gratefully to Greedclaw. Thank you, she mouthed.
~Ivyflight
(Oh, Sebastian? Can't stand him! I can't call him Jonathan. I know I hated Jace saying it was his name, but I hate calling Sebastian that more. My favourite couple is MagnusxAlec ^^)
ReplyDeleteGreedclaw dipped his head in a respectful manner. Before he disappeared into the nursery, he yelled, "Help Wishfeater!"
"Something's happening!" Riverkit whimpered.
"Nothing's happening!" Steelkit snapped angerily, but he had heard his mother yowl his father's name and fear ate at his stomach.
Soulkit remained silent until he spotted the deputy. "Greedclaw!" Soulkit meowed with hope. "What's going on?"
"Stop your questions," the tom snapped. "Nothing good will happen if you keep worrying. Just shut up and stay quiet. Steelkit, I swear on StarClan, if you convince Riverkit and Soulkit to leave the nursery, those foxes won't have time to kill you. I'll do it myself!" Withthat, the large cat disappeared back to help his clanmates.
"Why is he such a jerk," Riverkit meowed bitterly.
"I don't see how Vanstar made him deputy," Steelkit added.
"Father means well," Soulkit defended his dad.
Ivyflight sprang forward to help Wishfeather, her claws extended. She was starting to feel rather tired.
ReplyDelete~Ivyflight
"Yeah, well Father's an idiot," Steelkit snapped at his brother. Worry and the deputy's attitude making him irritable.
ReplyDeleteSoulkit recoiled, but remained silent.
Smokepelt had chased off his fox and was now attacking the fox that had attacked Vanstar. The fox didn't let up, but he had dropped the ginger leader and was now advancing on the silver tabby. Smokepelt didn't back down either. His eyes were lit with a new fire, fury. He wouldn't let this stupid fox kill his clanmates.
The fox became distracted with Ivyflight and ignored Wishfeather as it lunged at the mute she-cat.
Wishfeather stood up, dazed and in pain as she tried to figure out what was happening. Her eyes locked onto the fox that had attacked her, and sprang to Ivyflight's side to help destroy it.
Redclaw and Hawkeye had managed to kill the fox they had been fighting. The brown tabby tom looked at his friend with respect, as she gazed at him with equal respect. She nodded before going to check on the kits once more.
Redclaw sprang to Ashpaw and Ghostpaw's side. "Need any help?" He meowed.
"Yes!" Ghostpaw gasped.
ReplyDelete~Ghostpaw
Ashpaw sighed, a little wary.
~Ashpaw
Ivyflight's eyes opened wide as the fox batted her to one side. She recovered, shaking her head, and threw herself back into the fray.
~Ivyflight
Redclaw let out an amused laugh as he lunged at the fox the apprentice's had been fighting.
ReplyDeleteI will not let these foxes harm any of my clanmates, my mate, and especially not me kits! Wishfeather thought angerily as she snarled angerily and lashed out at the fox.
Smokepelt continued to fight the fox leader, but he was getting tired. He had a nasty wound on his shoulder, and it continued to sting painfully as he tussled with the fox.
This time, when Ivyflight was battling the fox with Wishfeather, she managed to get in and give it a sharp nip on the neck. The fox retaliated by giving her a nasty wound on her back and then batting her away by hitting her on the head. This time, Ivyflight lay still and did not get up again, bleeding profusely from her wounds.
ReplyDelete~Ivyflight
Ghostpaw fought side by side with Redclaw, finding new strength from being at the brave warriors' side.
~Ghostpaw
Ashpaw gasped as she saw Ivyflight lying on the ground. She rushed over to her sister. "Oh, nonononono," she whispered, her eyes wide with unshed tears.
~Ashpaw
"Ivyflight!" Wishfeather yowled and threw herself at the fox, clawing furiously. This was one of the few times, she let herself become angry. When the fox was distracted, the queen looked over at Ivyflight and Ashpaw. "Get her in the nursery!"
ReplyDelete"Ghostpaw!" Redclaw demanded. "You're smaller then myself, try to get under the foxes underbelly when I attack."
Smokepelt heard Wishfeather yell and turned his head. He yowled as the fox sunk it's teeth in his paw. "Foxdung!" He cursed and leaped on the fox's back. He dug his claws into it's back as he kicked furiously.
Ashpaw nodded and quickly entered the nursery, Ivyflight limp in her jaws.
ReplyDelete~Ashpaw
Ghostpaw blinked to show he'd heard, and then, lightning quick, darted underneath the fox and began clawing at its belly.
~Ghostpaw
Riverkit fluffed up her fur when the two cats entered the nursery. She relaxed when she recognized Ashpaw and Ivyflight.
ReplyDelete"There's a nest over here," Soulkit meowed to Ashpaw.
Smokepelt leaned forward and sunk his jaws into the back of the fox's neck. It let out a yelp as it went limp under him. He leaped off, feeling suddenly exhausted.
The only fox left was the one Ghostpaw and Redclaw were fighting.
The fox turned to nip at the apprentice attack it's soft belly, but before it could do anything, Redclaw was on his hind paws swatting at the fox, claws unsheathed.
Ghostpaw darted out from underneath the fox, and then, with one last vicious bite to the throat area, sent the fox yelping away. He stood, panting, fur fluffed up and gray eyes wide. "We did it," Ghostpaw murmured. He felt exhausted, and all he wanted to do was curl up in a cozy nest and sleep.
ReplyDelete~Ghostpaw
Ashpaw took a deep breath and stretched. There were no more sounds of fighting, and she looked over at the kits, making sure they were safe.
~Ashpaw
Ivyflight opened her eyes to find herself in the nursery. She sat up, only to lay down again because she felt so dizzy. What happened? she mouthed.
